New conservatory for cancer patients

A Wirral hospital specialising in cancer care has installed a new conservatory and out-patient department as part of its ongoing improvements.

With £3 million earmarked for enhancement of the Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology, the hospital is set to become one of the most state-of-the-art cancer units in the country, according to the Liverpool Daily Post.

The conservatory will allow patients to benefit from natural sunlight and views over the landscaped water garden – something that could even help with their treatment.

According to realsunlight.co.uk, exposure to the sun can help the body fight illness and tiredness by producing vitamin D3 and blocking melanin (the bodys natural sleep hormone).

The hospital was officially opened by Cherie Blair; wife of former prime minister Tony Blair.

Mrs Blair praised the hospital and told the newspaper that she was delighted to play a part in the opening of the new department.

"Due to my close links with the area, I am all too aware of Clatterbridges excellent reputation for cancer care," she said.

"The hospital provides an invaluable service to the people of Merseyside and Im thrilled to be opening this fantastic facility.""ADNFCR-1495-ID-18935453-ADNFCR"
