All You Need To Know About The Harrogate Flower Show

Established and run by the North of England Horticultural Society, the twice-yearly Harrogate Flower Show offers visitors an amazing gardening event experience. The show features established designers and nurseries alongside newer designers and even a category for the work of some amateur groups, offering a wide range of exhibits for visitors to experience.

Based at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, the biannual event provides a fascinating and interesting day out for gardeners and non-gardeners alike.

Filled with plenty of inspiration for your home patch, there will be something for all gardeners, whatever their experience, from advice, talks and demonstrations to the latest horticultural trends. For those trying to grow their own fruit and vegetables, top tips and advice are available from the Kitchen Garden Live team.

Do you fancy something a little different? Try out a demonstration in the Food Theatre, where you can witness great chefs cooking fabulous dishes; alternatively, you could tickle your taste buds in the food marquee, where exhibitors have wonderful local produce and delicious regional foods for you to try and take home with you. If all this food is making your mouth water, the show also offers plenty of food outlets, cafes, and restaurants for you to refresh yourself during the day.

The shows are held in spring and autumn, with this year’s dates being 20-23 April and 15-17 September 2017; tickets for the spring show are available to purchase straight away. If you pre-buy your tickets online or via the ticket line, you will save money against the on-the-day gate price, leaving more money in your pocket to spend on the day.

The show’s opening times are 9.30am to 5.30pm every day except Sunday, when it closes at 4.30pm. Last admissions are one hour before closing on each day.

There is free car parking and under 16s gain free admission; therefore, this could be a great spot for a family day out. Children can enjoy fun and crafts in the gardening hall with the show’s own cute, crafty pal Pod.

Before you leave the show, don’t forget to check out the shopping sections. There is everything you could need for the garden, from secateurs right through to greenhouses and, of course, plenty of plants to take home with you. Alternatively, there are some amazing crafts and gifts for you to purchase – this is a great place to find unusual gifts and items you would struggle to locate on the high street. Treat a friend or family member, or perhaps treat yourself!

Overall, the Harrogate Flower Show is a great day out for all ages, with plenty of things to see and do, places to eat, and the opportunity to shop until you drop. What more could anyone want?
